Travel Mania is a compilation of stories that explore how travel can change a life.
Author Karen Gershowitz considers herself an ordinary person who has learned courage and risk-taking due to the experiences that travel brings. Travel Mania is a vivid story of how one woman found her strength, power, and passion through travel experiences. Like spending months in rural Indonesia and becoming an accidental translator since she has a knack for understanding through heavy accents. Or like living with a Japanese family who taught her the art of making sushi.
Each story can be read and enjoyed independently. It will no doubt tickle the travel bug and encourage readers to set off on their own adventures. Travel is Karen’s addiction—and she doesn’t want any treatment for it!

Karen Gershowitz is a marketing strategist, researcher, and former ceramics student, whose love of travel began at 17 years old when she boarded a plane for Europe and didn’t come home for three years. Since then, she’s traveled to more than 90 countries, which has included climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, conquering her fear of falling to go on an elephant trek in Thailand, and spending time in Berlin shortly after the wall came down.
Using her skills as an interviewer, Karen has persuaded total strangers to open up and connect with her. Through these conversations, she has been offered many invitations to dinners and personal tours simply by remaining curious and open to learning about the lives, local customs, fashions, and humor of the people she is living around.
