DescriptionApril meetup for the Chicago chapter of The Nomadic Network!
This month, we're excited to have Chicago resident and travel enthusiasts Bisa Myles speak about her hike up Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa!
In her talk, she will cover how to plan for hiking Mount Kilimanjaro, what to pack, tips to prepare for hiking in high altitude, and which snacks to bring. If you have any doubts that you could do a hike like this, bring them! We will also have a short Q&A session after her talk.
Bisa is an African American, plus-sized adventurer, and breast cancer survivor. After finishing cancer treatment, instead of worrying about whether or not the disease would return, she created a recovery plan of her own. Her plan included exploring the world and trying new experiences (including this massive hike as a plus-sized traveler). Her mission is to remind us that we can create a life we love despite our circumstances. She is an inspiration and shares her stories and travel experiences on MylesToTravel.com.
Not into climbing Mount Kilimanjaro? That's perfectly okay! We'll also leave plenty of time for you to meet, mingle, and connect with like-minded travelers too. So come out listen to Bisa's inspiring story about how to climb Kili, have a beer, and make new friends.
Schedule for the night:
7:00: Arriving, signing in, and mingling
7:30: Welcome talk by the chapter leaders
7:35: Presentation by Bisa Myles
7:50: Q&A session with Bisa Myles
8:00: Mingling with other travel loving attendees
Tickets are $10 and you can bring a friend for FREE.
That means it's 2 tickets for the price of 1!
Your first drink is on us too!
See you soon,
Lee, Dulce, Danielle, Emily, & The Nomadic Network Team
What is THE NOMADIC NETWORK (TNN)?
It's our newest initiative and is a global community of travel enthusiasts who support, connect, educate, and inspire one another to travel better, cheaper, and longer (created by me, Nomadic Matt). We strive to provide our fellow travelers with the tools, resources, tips, and knowledge to enable them to confidently plan global adventures. We encourage and eagerly share our global know-how with others. We do this with these local TNN chapter meet-ups in cities across the world that provide time for you to meet and connect with other travelers. Whether you're planning a short jaunt to a nearby city or an indefinite round-the-world trip, The Nomadic Network is here to help the world travel — one nomad at a time.
