We love to read.
Our whole community loves to read.
That's why we follow Nomadic Matt.
He writes stories about traveling... and we read them.
You might know that Matt has had a book club on his site for a long time where he recommends all sorts of travel and non-travel books he's read and loved. Now, it's time to bring those book club meetings to real life!
We're hosting our first-ever virtual book club where you get to meet the actual author. Each month we'll be discussing a different book with different amazing authors.
To kick this initiative off, our first guest author is Nomadic Matt himself! We'll be discussing his recent memoir "Ten Years A Nomad". Feel free to bring tons of questions because this is really your time to ask him whatever you want specific to this book.
If you haven't read this book yet, don't worry, you can get it here (https://nomadicmatt.com/ten-years-a-nomad). We're giving you a month to read it, take notes, and highlight whatever needs to be highlighted so you're ready for this meeting. If you think of any questions, feel free to ask them ahead of here (https://forums.thenomadicnetwork.com/topic/6803-december-book-club-ten-years-a-nomad-by-matt-kepnes).
? ABOUT THE BOOK
Matthew Kepnes knows what it feels like to get the travel bug. After meeting some travelers on a trip to Thailand in 2005, he realized that living life meant more than simply meeting society's traditional milestones, such as buying a car, paying a mortgage, and moving up the career ladder. Inspired by them, he set off for a year-long trip around the world before he started his career.
He finally came home after ten years. Over 500,000 miles, 1,000 hostels, and 90 different countries later, Matt has compiled his favorite stories, experiences, and insights into this travel manifesto. Filled with the color and perspective that only hindsight and self-reflection can offer, these stories get to the real questions at the heart of wanderlust. Travel questions that transcend the basic "how-to," and plumb the depths of what drives us to travel ― and what extended travel around the world can teach us about life, ourselves, and our place in the world.
"Ten Years a Nomad" is for travel junkies, the travel-curious, and anyone interested in what you can learn about the world when you don’t have a cable bill for a decade or spend a month not wearing shoes living on the beach in Thailand.
