Description

One of the greatest pastimes of traveling is...eating!

But how do you find the best local food? A guidebook? Relying on friends? Asking your taxi driver?

Luckily, Winston's love for traveling is only second to his love for food.

As a first-gen Chinese-American, his favorite memories of growing up were being fed by his grandmother. His travel experiences were heavily influenced by Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmerman. He found himself on a hunt to seek out the best dishes while traveling overseas. His culinary experiences led to the creation of a set of guidelines for finding good food on the road. In this session, Winston's going to share these guidelines with you.

WINSTON CHIANG was raised in Brooklyn and is now based in Long Island. He grew up traveling the world attending engineering conferences with his family. While his dad was attending the conference, Winston and the rest of his family would explore the surrounding cities. Since then, he's visited 16 countries and over 80 cities. Most recently, he spent last year traveling through Vietnam, Japan, China, Thailand, Mexico, Belize, and Honduras. COVID, unfortunately, cut his travels short. Recently, he learned how to code so he could transition into a more digital nomad-friendly career. In his spare time, he enjoys writing, reading, performing poetry, yoga, swimming, participating in triathlons, hosting events, activism, cooking, and generally approaching all things with a sense of wonder and curiosity. He loves raising up with his friends, working on projects he's proud of, and contributing to his community. And of course, he's obsessed with eating broadly as a means to explore cultures around the world!
