      Forum Description

      Bisa in Tanzania near Kilimanjaro

      Hey everyone,

I wanted to share another video from a recent Nomadic Network event. This one is all about “Tips & Tricks for Hiking Mount Kilimanjaro."

Close to 35,000 people attempt to hike Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania a year (though probably not in 2020!).

Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa and the world's tallest free-standing mountain. The trek leads you through temperatures of tropical heat to arctic conditions. To reach the top, you travel the elevation to the top is 5,895 meters (19,341 feet). There are seven routes to choose from, ranging from 5 to 7 days to reach the highest peak of Uhuru.

Bisa set out on this adventure in March 2019 with 20 plus-sized women, three years after finishing treatment for breast cancer.

In this talk, Bisa shares why hiking Mt Kilimanjaro was a life-changing experience. She shares her story and photos from her journey. She gives practical tips for how to train for the trail, what to pack, and what to expect when hiking high elevation.
